What an exciting day we had today! Debbie came to visit us with some of the animals she has rescued. She brought Poppy the Ferret, Hobnob the Rabbit, Holly the Hedgehog, Joe the Owl and Mr Bear the Fox. We really enjoyed hearing why all the animals are with Debbie. Holly is blind, so needs Debbie to help her get food, Mr Bear was found abandoned at around three days old with his eyes still closed. When he opened his eyes Debbie was the first person he saw, he doesn’t know he is a fox and doesn’t know how to be a fox so Debbie looks after him. Hobnob was with a family that didn’t realise he would grow into a giant rabbit rather than a normal sized one so, Debbie took him in.
We shared some information we have learned with Debbie about the animals too. We know hedgehogs cannot drink milk, it hurts their tummies. If leaving out food for then we should leave out chicken flavoured dog or cat food and some water.
