Feb & March in P1McL
This has been a busy half term in P1! We have loved learning about our Night topic. The role play area is a night cave - we have been camping, eating toast and toasting marshmallows over a camp fire. We have learnt about so many night animals and enjoyed a visit from Debbie Doolittle. In our night pond we have been investigating floating and sinking and we used lego to build nests and trees for a STEM activity. In Numeracy we have been learning to add on 1 more, working on numbers to 9, investigating long&short and heavy&light. We have also been looking at 2D and 3D shapes, sorting objects using a tree diagram and making patterns. In Literacy we have finished all 42 sounds and are now reading and writing words ourselves. We have been writing fantastic sentences using our tricky words. P1 are learning about narrative writing. We wrote a story map for 'We're going on a bear hunt' and used "talk the text" to tell the story. At the beginning of March we celebrated World Book Day and everyone dressed up. As part of reading week a different teacher read to us every day after lunch and we went on a trip to the library. We are definitely ready for Easter!
