P6E Numeracy
After finding out about quadrilaterals, we decided to investigate angles inside triangles and quadrilaterals. We had to be very careful when cutting and sticking for this investigation to work.
Last year, in P5, we found out about all the different types of triangles (equilateral, isosceles, scalene and right-angled) so we investigated all of these alongside all the different quadrilaterals.
We drew large angles inside the shapes and then cut these out. We found that the angles from inside any triangle, when fitted side-by-side create a straight line. The angle of a straight line is 180 degrees so the angles inside any triangle when added together equal 180 degrees.
When the angles of any quadrilateral were put together they created a full turn. A full turn equals 360degrees so the angles inside any quadrilateral when added together equal 360 degrees.
